Ibn Abbas has narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ص) said:
"I am the weighing-scale of knowledge, and Ali is its two pans, Hasan and Husain are its cords and Fatima is the connecting rod and the subsequent Imams are its handgrip in which the actions of our lovers and foes are weighed and measured."

In Fath al-Malik Al-A'li, about the authenticity of hadith of Bab al-Ilm Ali (Maghrebi, page 164), it is stated as below:
Hafiz Suyuti in Jami' al-Kabir says: It was quite some time that my mind was preoccupied about the mode of chain of transmission of this hadith until I concluded that it is “Hasan” (i.e., acceptable hadith). Later, when coincidentally, I came across Ibn Jarir’s rectification regarding narration of hadith from Ali from the book Tahdhib al-Athar together with Hakem Naishabouri’s rectification with respect to narration of this hadith from Ibn Abbas, I took recourse to “Istikhāra” (literally it means “to seek that which is good” and is a done for example, by selecting lines or passages from the Quran) until I became certain and promoted the order of hadith from “Hasan” to “Sahih” (i.e., genuine hadith). *
