Ali (ع), the beloved of the holy Prophet (ص)

It is narrated from Aisha that the Messenger of Allah (ص) was in my house in the state of sickness and before dying, he said:

"Call my beloved one next to me." I called Abu Bakr (my father). The Prophet (ص) looked at him and then laid his head back on the pillow and then repeated and said, " Call my beloved one next to me." I said to those who were present, "Woe to you all, call Ali ibn Abi Talib for I swear by God that he does not want anyone but him!" When he saw Ali, he detached himself from the bed and pushed back the cover that was on him, and he took Ali underneath it and held him in his arms until he passed away while his hand was still on Ali's body"

Kharazmi, Al-Manaqib, page 68; This hadith has been narrated by Ibn Marduyeh Esfahani (Manaqib, page 70) according to what Shahabuddin Eiji Shafi'i has presented in Tauzih al-Dala'il (page 178).

And Muhibuddin al-Tabari narrates in Zhakair ul-Uqba (page 72) from Aisha that when the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) was on his death-bed, he said, "Call my beloved to come besides me." Abu Bakr was brought forward and upon seeing him, the Prophet drew back his head on the pillow. He repeated the same sentence again and Omar was presented. As soon as the Messenger of Allah saw him, he placed his head back and said, "Ask my beloved one to come." Ali was called in. When the Messenger of Allah saw Ali, he made him enter the cover that was on him and continued to hold him in his arms until he passed away.

Also, this hadith has been narrated in Tarikh Madinah-Damishq (Ibn Asaker, V. 42, page 393) and Jawaher al-Matalib (Ibn Demeshqi, V. 1, page 175).

It is narrated from Abdullah ibn Omar that the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) at the time of his illness, said, "Call my brother to come besides me." Abu Bakr was called and the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) turned his face away from him. Then he said, "Inform my brother to come." Omar was called and the Messenger of God (s.a.w.a.) once again turned away from him and then said, "Inform my brother to come." Uthman was called and this time too, the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) turned away from him. So they called Ali. The Prophet (s.a.w.a.) lifted the cloth that was upon him and took Ali under it. When Ali left the presence of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.), he was asked, "What did Allah’s Messenger say to you under the cloth?" He said, "The Messenger of Allah taught me a thousand chapters (of knowledge), and from each chapter, a thousand other chapters are opened."
