HADITHS 49

Ali’s (ع) enemy is not a Muslim

Muawiyah ibn Haidah narrates that the Messenger of Allah (ص) said:

﴿ مَنْ مَاتَ وَفِي قَلْبِهِ بُغْضُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَلْيَمُتْ يَهُودِيّاً أَوْ نَصْرَانِيّاً ﴾

"Whoever dies with hatred in his heart for Ali Ibn Abi Talib, has died a Jew or a Christian"

In the book Firduas Al-Akhbar (Dailami, V.5, p.408) and Zahr al-Firdaus, (Ibn Hajar Asqalani, V.4, page 312) narrate from Bahz ibn Hakim that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) said ‘O Ali! I am not awed that the one who departs this world with your enmity dies a Jew or Christian.’ This hadith has been mentioned in Al-Manaqib (p.63) by Ibn Maghzali narrating from Muawiyah ibn Haidah.

And it is narrated from Abu Harun that he said: "I was with Ibn Umar when Nafi ibn Azraq approached and stood above Ibn Umar and swore an oath and said: I swear by Allah that I have hatred for Ali concealed in my heart. Narrator says: Ibn Umar raised his head and said, ‘May Allah become your enemy; do you bear hatred against a personality whose (only) one of his past records is better and superior than this world and everything in it."
