The Prophet (ص) in confrontation with the enemies of Ali (ع)

It is narrated from Abu Hurairah who said:

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة: نَظَرَ النَّبِيُّ (صل الله علیه و اله) إِلَی عَلِيٍّ وَحَسَنٍ وَحُسَيْنٍ وَفَاطِمَةَ (علیهم السلام، فَقَالَ:

﴿ أَنَا حَرْبٌ لِـمَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ، وَسِلْمٌ لِـمَنْ سَالَـمَكُمْ ﴾

The Prophet (ص) looked at Ali, Hasan, Husain and Fatimah (a.h.s.) and said:
“I am at war with those who fight you, and at peace with those who make peace with you.”

It is narrated from Zaid ibn Arqam that he said: During the illness of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) that led to his death, he graciously turned his face towards Ali, Fatimah, Hasan and Husain and said, “I am at war with the one who fights you and at peace with the one who makes peace with you.” Ibn Asaker, Tarikh Madinah-Damishq, V.14, page 157.

Also, refer to Jam'i as-Sahih (Tirmidhi, V.5, page 360) and Sunan Ibn-Majah (V.1, p.52); It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri who said: After marriage of Ali with Fatimah, the holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) for forty days in the morning would come to Fatimah’s house and say: “I am earnestly at war with anyone who is at war with you and earnestly a friend to anyone who befriends you.” Ibn Shahin, Fazail Sayed’tun-Nisa, page 29.

And in Kanz al-Ummal, Zaid ibn Arqam testifies that the holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said to Ali, Fatima, Hasan, and Husain: “I am at war with whomever you are at war with and I am at peace with whomever you are at peace with.”

Muttaqi Hindi has narrated this tradition from a number of Ahle-Sunnah books. Refer to Kanz al-Ummah, V.13, page 640.
