Allah loves him more
Ibn Abbas narrates that the Messenger of Allah (ص) said to Ali (ع):
قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاس: كُنْتُ أَنَا وَأَبِيَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْـمُطَلِّبِ جَالِسَيْنِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ| إِذْ دَخَلَ عَليُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَسَلَّمَ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ـ صلّی الله عليه وآله ـ وَبَشَّرَ بِهِ وَقامَ إِلَيْهِ وَاعْتَنَقَهُ وَقَبَّلَ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ وَأَجْلَسَهُ عَنْ يِمِينِهِ
فَقالَ الْعَبّاسُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ! أَتُـحِبُّ هَذَا؟
فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ|:
﴿يَا عَمَّ رَسُولِ اللهِ! وَاللهِ لله أَشَدُّ حُبّاً لَهُ مِنِّي، إِنَّ اللهَ جَعَلَ ذُرِيَّةَ كُلِّ نَبِيٍّ فِي صُلْبِهِ وَجَعَلَ ذُريَّتِي فِي صُلْبِ هَذَا﴾
Ibn Abbas said: "My father (Abbas ibn Abdul-Muttalib) and I had the honour of being in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ص), at which point Ali ibn Abi Talib (ع) came in and greeted everyone. After answering the greetings, the Prophet (ص) warmheartedly stood up while looking happy and hugged and then kissed his forehead and made him sit at his right side.
Abbas (who was the observer of this scene) said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you love him?
The Prophet (ص) said: "My dear Uncle! I swear by Allah that Allah loves him more than I do; Allah placed the descendants of every Prophet from behind the same Prophet and has placed my descendants in the back of this person."
Khatib Baghdadi, Tarikh-e-Baghdad, V.1, page 333; Khatib al-Baghdadi has narrated this hadith from Mansur, from his father Muhammad ibn Ali, from his father Ali ibn Abdullah, from his father Abdullah ibn Abbas and from Jabir as follows:
"God placed the descendants of every Prophet behind the same Prophet, and placed my descendants at the rear of Ali ibn Abi Talib."
