As the verse إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُنْذِرٌ وَ لِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ هَادٍ “You are truly a warner, and to every nation there is a guide” (Ra’ad, 7) was revealed, the holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) placed his blessed hand on his chest and said, “I am the warner”. Then he placed his hand on Ali’s chest and said, ‘O Ali! You are the guide and those who are guided after me will be guided through you’.
