Hadith-e-Kisa (Tradition of Cloak)
Amirul-Mu’minin (ع) said:
جَمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ (صلّی الله عليه وآله) فِي بَيْتِ اُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَا وَفَاطِمَةَ وَحَسَناً وَحُسَيْناً، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صلّی الله عليه وآله) فِي كِسَاءٍ لَهُ، وَأَدْخَلْنَا مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ ضَمَّنَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: اَللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي، فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهيراً
فَقالَتْ اُمُّ سَلَمَةَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ! فَأنا؟ ـ وَدَنَتْ مِنْه ـ
فَقَالَ: أَنْتِ مِـمَّنْ أَنْتِ منْهُ، وَأَنْتِ عَلَی خَيْرٍ
أَعَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ، ثَلَاثاً يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ
The Messenger of Allah (ص) gathered me, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husain in Umm Salamah’s house. Then, the Messenger of Allah (ص) went under his cloak, and brought us too under the cloak and took us in his arms, and said, "O Allah! They are from my Ahl ul-bayt; keep off filth and impurity from them and purify them, with a thorough purification.
Um Salama said, "O Messenger of Allah! So what about me? And she was standing close to the Messenger of Allah (ص).
The Prophet (ص) said, "You are from the one from which you are, and you are on the path to goodness, (but you are not of us, Ahl al-Bayt (ع) and this group of five)."
The Prophet (ص) repeated this action three times.
