HADITHS 97

Ali and Fatimah are from me

Amr ibn Maimon says: I was in the company of Ibn Abbas when seven people [2] approached him and said: O Ibn Abbas, either leave the place and stay away from this gathering (so that we can talk in private) or keep distance from your companions and have privacy with us.”

Ibn Abbas said: I will come with you. (The narrator says:)This incident took place at the time when Ibn Abbas was not yet blind.

Ibn Maimon says: So they went to a corner and began to talk, and we do not know what was said between them. Ibn Abbas, while he appeared unpleased, swayed his garment and said: Whoa! Good grief. They speak ill of a man who possesses tens of special virtues which others are deprived of. They are against and critical of a man about whom the Prophet (ص) said: (in the battle of Khaibar where others fled and then returned helplessly)

“I will send a man to fight whom Allah has never disgraced. He loves Allah and His Messenger - until Ibn Abbas said: “The Messenger of Allah (ص) put over his cloak on Ali, Fatimah, Hasan and Husain and said:

“Indeed Allah has willed to remove all impurity from you, O Ahl al-bayt (O People of the Household) and to purify you, a thorough purification.” [3]
